– DR. ASAMOAH
This treatment releases tension held in every part of the body, leaving you feeling deeply relaxed and recharged. Carefully applied pressures stimulate the nervous system, relieve muscular tension, and lymphatic drainage helps encourage a healthy circulation.
The first written records of massage were found in China and Egypt, dating back as far as 2700 BCE to ancient texts still influencing alternative medicine training today. Western medicine adopted the practice of massage in the 1800s, and the practices of Swedish massage and Japanese Shiatsu massage are most common. Today, the desire for the treatment of massage is widespread – from professional athletes to cancer patients.
After your initial assessment, the massage therapist will step out of the room so you may undress to your comfort level and lie on a massage table, covered by a sheet or large towel. Make sure you are comfortable and let the therapist know if you are not. During your massage, focus on relaxing your mind, body, and breath. Your therapist will ask if you are feeling any discomfort. Remember, communication is key to getting the most of your treatment. Once the massage is over, the therapist will step out so you may redress.
Massage therapy is very safe. Side effects are extremely rare, but we do advise clients to consult with their physician if they have any prior medical issues.
